LUNCHTIME CREW: Wesleyan staff members meet every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for a crew adventure on the Connecticut River. This is the fourth year Wesleyan has had a summer rowing program. Pictured left to right are Gina Driscoll as coxwain, Ann Goodwin, Anne Bergen, Carol Scully, Mark Bailey, Kristine Schiavi, Camille Dolansky, Cynthia Wells and Liz Attebery.

Phil Carney, head coach of Men's Crew and afternoon crew coach, uses a megaphone to instruct the crew through the water.
The crew rows north on the Connecticut River towards the Arrigoni Bridge between Middletown and Portland, Conn. They meet 15 times in the summer from late June through August.
Ann Goodwin, associate vice president for University Relations and crew co-coordinator, rows in the stroke seat. "We have rowers who rowed competitively in college and rowers who don't consider themselves athletic at all---but what we have in common is the desire to try  this exciting sport, to be out on the water, and to enjoy the group," she says. "It's been a terrific way for people to get to know each other better and many of us have fallen in love with rowing."
The hobbyist crew members return their shell to Wesleyan's Macomber Boat House. For more information contact Ann Goodwin at 860-685-2544. (Photos by Marianne Calnen).
