TALL, TALL TREES:
A series of trees were planted near the Suzanne Lemberg Usdan University
Center in August. Red oaks were planted in the front of Usdan, pin oaks
were planted in the pedestrian concourse and hornbeams were planted in
the back.
On Aug. 24, six massive hornbeam trees
arrived on two tractor-trailer beds and were moved towards Usdan. Each
tree weighed between 8,000 and 10,000 pounds.
The hornbeam trees were grown at a nursery
and dug up and bound three weeks before their transport to Wesleyan.
The trees were lifted by crane into circular
holes around Usdan. (Photos by Olivia Bartlett)
