STAND BACK!:
Student volunteers participate in the "Clock Reaction Race" during an
event titled "Stand Back! I'm Going to Try
Science" April 17 in Exley Science Center. The event was held in
conjunction with WesFest 2008, to introduce admitted students to the
sciences. |

Radicals, who performed some of their favorite chemical demonstrations
at the event. |

T. David Westmoreland, associate professor
of chemistry, prepares an oscillating reaction. After the ingredients
were added, the mixture oscillated between several colors for an hour.

to the facilities manager in chemistry, mixes ingredients for
liquid-nitrogen ice cream. All participants were able to sample the ice
