WesWorld Wednesdays
WesWorld Wednesdays (WWW) is a new series of programs in the Usdan University Center to highlight the international presence at Wesleyan and our community's place in the world, and to explore the complexities and intersections among U.S. diversity, international issues, and global citizenship. WWW is co-sponsored by the Offices of International Student Affairs, International Studies, for Diversity and Academic Advancement. 

Student Affairs Diversity Organizing Interns are a team of six individuals working together to create a better campus climate. Based out of the University Organizing Center, they work collaboratively to address issues and create proactive initiatives to serve our student communities and address the complex and intersecting identities that exist in our world. While each internship has a focus area, we recognize that by supporting one another’s efforts, we can achieve greater successes. Supervisors in the Office of Student Affairs/Deans' Office join in this commitment to improve the campus climate and to provide meaningful developmental opportunities for the interns. The internships are:

Dwight Green ’70 Interns
Stephanie Lee ’11, sslee@wesleyan.edu; Maya Odim '10, modim@wesleyan.edu
Housed within the Office for Diversity and Academic Advancement, the Dwight Green ’70 Interns lead the program called WesConnects. WesConnects is a Student of Color mentoring program designed to cultivate the sharing of knowledge, experiences, strengths, and aspirations between incoming and returning students as well as faculty, staff, and alumni. This program seeks to create a network of support that recognizes and affirms the complex identities and multiple meanings associated with the concept of Student of Color. The Interns develop programs to cultivate the development of a WesConnect Network.

International Student Affairs Intern

Housed within the Offices for Diversity and Academic Advancement and International Student Affairs, the ISA Intern assists with international student programming, orientation logistics, and Web site development. The Intern also organizes programming that explores the complexities and intersections among U.S. diversity, international issues, and global citizenship.

Queer Resource Center (QRC) Intern

Housed within the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Development, the QRC Intern organizes educational and social opportunities to engage in dialogues about issues pertaining to sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender identities. The Intern helps manage the Queer Resource Center, which acts both as the physical meeting and gathering space, as well as a general resource for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning … community at Wesleyan.

Student of Color Coalition Intern

Housed within the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development (SALD), the SOCC Intern works to promote student involvement and leadership development opportunities and to provide valuable student input in our initiatives. The Intern provides peer assistance and support to Wesleyan’s various multicultural/ethnic organizations. In particular, the Intern offers advocacy and support to student organizations and should have knowledge and a commitment to broader issues of social justice and the intersections of identities, and will work to build bridges between different identity groups.

University Organizing Center Interns
Christie Kontopidis ’10, ckontopidis@wesleyan.edu
Housed within the Office of Student Services, the UOC Interns maintains the Organizing Center at 162 Church Street, and provide peer assistance and support to Wesleyan’s various affinity groups and organizations. In particular, the Interns lends logistical assistance to student organizations and advises and encourages them in the use of campus resources. The Interns are responsible for fostering communication among various activist organizations and groups on campus.
