"Winter Camping"
We started out the semester with one of the coldest winters Russia has experienced for years with temperatures reaching -40 C in the Moscow area.  Tzippy Rhodes '07 and I accepted an invitation to a Russian wedding in the woods.  We had an all around authentic Russian time camping out in the snow.

"Pokrovananerli"
The 12th century Church of the Intercession on the Nerl - my favorite Russian church in the heart of Russia's golden ring. Unlike other famous churches, it is not located in a city, but is a 2km walk from the road.

Clothes on the line: I went hiking for a week in Provence with a French organization. It was just me and 9 French strangers, most of whom were in their thirties, but it was a lot of fun and I never would have been able to see this sunset without a guide.

Smiling fun people: I turned 21 in late April and was feted by my friends in the program. I even received a rose from one of the guys who worked in the bar.

Selling flowers: May Day is my favorite part of French culture; everyone gets the day off, and anyone can sell lily of the valley in the street. People buy small bunches for a euro or two and give them to their friends. It's one of those days where everyone is in a good mood.
