[Wesleyan University]

A warm welcome to the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA)! We provide advice and counsel on every aspect of your adjustment to life at Wesleyan--cultural, academic, personal, financial, and immigration.   We organize International Student Orientation when you arrive and on-going orientation programs on issues of particular interest to international students, and coordinate support for undergraduate international students who choose to remain on campus during official university breaks.  Our goal is to smooth your way into U.S. academic culture, and to help you integrate on all levels into the vibrant and challenging intellectual and social community that is Wesleyan University.

Incoming international students should arrive on campus on Friday, August 28, 2009 and participate in activities throughout the weekend. All other incoming students will  arrive on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. New Student Orientation, which all students are expected to attend including international students, begins on Tuesday, September 1st and continues through Monday, September 7th. Click here for more information on New Student Orientation

In addition, OISA works closely with many other offices on campus to ensure that your needs are met. We have included the more relevant offices for incoming and prospective international students below.

We look forward to seeing you on campus!

Financing Your Legal Education

Description: Wondering how youre going to pay for law school? Youre not alone! The good news is that federal financial aid programs exist to help you. Your focus as you prepare for law school should be on getting your financial house in order now and then borrowing the minimum amount possible to attend the school you choose. Developing a strategy will insure that youre successful both in financing your education and in achieving your long-term financial goals once you graduate. Math Colloquium- Chi-Wang Shu

Description: High Order Methods for Convection Dominated PDEs--An Overview In this talk we will give an overview of algorithm development, analysis and application, with an emphasis on motivation, historical perspective and recent progress, on high order numerical methods for convection dominated partial differential equations. These partial differential equations arise in diverse application areas, including computational fluid dynamics, traffic flow models, computational electromagnetism, and astrophysics. After a discussion of motivation and overview on several standard methods, we will discuss a few modern numerical methods, including the finite difference weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes, finite volume WENO schemes, and discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element methods. A comparison of their relevant advantages and disadvantages will be given.
