Meet the Summer Interns

Summer Interns are the amazing Wesleyan students who work alongside the Professional staff in planning and implementing all aspects of New Student Orientation. They are a peer-to-peer point of contact for all New Wesleyan students over the summer and look forward to helping each new student and their families with their transition to Wes this Fall!

Hi awesome individuals of the Class of 2020!

I’m Shantelle Brown an international student from Jamaica. I am a Neuroscience & Behavior and Hispanic Literatures & Cultures double major but I’m also enthused by Performance Studies. If I’m not ‘living it up’ in Olin I’m most likely writing, freezing moments through photography, exploring the music scene, creating video art or watching documentaries. I believe change is possible. My interests are constantly morphing and, I appreciate that. For the first time ever, I’ve been able to connect all my interests through my experiences thus far at Wesleyan.

Welcome to Wesleyan! Looking forward to meeting you all.

  • Rachel Godfrey 2019

Hey everybody! My name is Rachel, and I'll be a sophomore next fall. I was born in Staten Island, but raised in the Dirty Jerz. I feel as if I've lived in CT my whole life, considering I went to Pomfret, a boarding school about an hour away from Wesleyan. As of now, I'm a prospective African-American Studies & Economics double major, but my mind changes every two weeks. I'm the daughter of two Liberian immigrants, so celebrating and learning more about the cultures, identities and stories within the African Diaspora has been one of the most exciting parts of my time on campus. I am a member of Ujamaa, the Black Student Union, and will be one of the coordinators for the Traverse Square after-school program starting next fall. My love of writing has led me to Sinkhole Magazine and The Ankh, two awesome student publications at Wes. Fortunately, I've also been able to be a part of student performances, such as "Raza", a student-written musical and Terpsichore, a ridiculously fun dance show that happens once a semester.

I'm unabashedly loud and the likelihood of you hearing my laugh from across campus is extremely high. So if you're trying to dance to some Jersey Club music, or have any questions at all, I'd love to hear from you. Welcome to Wes - we can't wait for your arrival!

  • Jake Valeri 2019

My name is Jake Valeri and next semester I'll be a sophomore here at Wesleyan. I'm from the small town of Bedford, New Hampshire but moved up to Portsmouth earlier last year. I'm majoring in Economics with a certificate in Italian, balancing WES Wellness, WIG (Wesleyan Investment Group), and wrestling. When I'm not at school I like to play guitar, perform comedy, and sleep in. I'm excited to be working for New Student Orientation this summer and can't wait to welcome new students to Wesleyan!

I'm Naomi Williams, a quiet soul with a vibrant personality born in Hartford, CT but raised in Atlanta, GA. Both are home to me! I'm the oldest of six children and take great pleasure in writing under the sun. And eating. And dancing. Welcome to Wes Class of 2020!
