Summer Checklist
As a new Wesleyan student, there are several tasks you will need to
take care of prior to your arrival on campus. Please review the list
below to make sure you have completed all the necessary steps.
Summer Mailing: Students will receive a mailing sent
the first week of June
from the orientation office. All
of the information from the mailing is also online through this link (live
when the mailing is completed). It is
important for you to carefully read the entire mailing. It has important
instructions on course registration and several other tasks you need to
accomplish prior to coming to Wesleyan.
Your Electronic Portfolio: Explore your
e-portfolio and learn how this online tool can help you track your interests, present your work and develop your academic program.
The mailing above will contain your account information.
Summer Registration for Class
of 2013: New students will be able to register online through their
electronic portfolio. Online registration should have been completed by July
7th at 5:00pm EST.
Placement Testing:
All students are required to take a mathematics placement test and should take a
language placement test as well, if they plan to continue on in a language they
have previously studied. Click the link to learn more.
New Student Photos: All
new students will need to send in passport photos for their WesCard. The
easiest way to do this is online through your e-portfolio by July 15th. You may
also mail a photo to the WesCard Office. See your summer mailing for details.
Health Forms:
The Davison Health Center needs to gather medical history information
for all students. Click on the link to complete the information by July
15th. If you are not purchasing insurance through the university, you
should also complete the insurance waiver form by clicking
here.
Choose your Meal Plan:
All students must select their meal plan and can do so online through
their e-portfolio.
I9 Documentation:
Collect the information in this link and bring it with you to
arrival day.
Community Service Field Trip:
Sign up for an optional community service field trip during
orientation.
Religious & Spiritual Life Survey:
Complete this survey so the university can best support you.
First Year Matters Common Reading:
Complete the Common Reading which will be announced mid-May and be prepared to discuss it with your
peers when you come to campus. You're reading may be enriched by
exploring the Legacy and Impact
Supplemental Readings.
New Computer Information:
The computer store will be sending out a brochure in July containing general
information and prices for purchasing a new computer. If you do purchase a
computer from the computer store, it will be in your room on Arrival Day:
Tuesday, September 1st. The computer store will complete setup and networking
by the evening of Arrival Day.
Getting Your Belongings
To Wes: Some students may need to mail large boxes to Wesleyan
in order to make traveling easier. The Wesleyan Post Office will be
sending a postcard by mid-July, which will include students' post office
box numbers. Wesleyan recommends sending packages via UPS prior to
Arrival Day (please take into account the length of time needed for
packages to arrive). Although UPS policy is not to deliver to post
office boxes, they will deliver to your mailbox through the Wesleyan Station
address. (There is no mail or package delivery to residence halls.)
Staying overnight before Arrival Day?
Rooms for early arrivals can be reserved at the Sheraton Hotel adjacent to
Bradley International Airport. Reservations can be made for the room rate
of $112/night only for the night of Monday, August 31st, 2009. Please ask
for rooms reserved under the "Wesleyan Orientation Program." Please
contact the Sheraton at (860) 627-5311 for reservations. Shuttle
transportation to campus will be available on the morning of September 1st,
2009
(Arrival Day). Information regarding the shuttle can be found
here.
Other
lodging
options are also available, but you will need to make transportation
arrangements to campus.
