Subject: Slippery conditions on campus

To the Wesleyan Community:

As you all know, conditions on campus have been difficult over the past days, despite the hard work of our crews. We are grateful for suggestions that lead to improvements and ask for your continued vigilance and patience.  I wish I could assure you that conditions will be much improved this week, but I fear they may in fact be even more treacherous as snow continues to melt during the day and freeze up at night, creating slippery sidewalks and parking lots, and more snow is expected tomorrow.

Please be extremely careful on all footpaths as the danger of black ice, or ice covered by a dusting of snow, will likely continue over the next days.  It may be tempting to walk in the streets, but the hazards of that are obvious.  The university is doing its best to keep the campus accessible and safe, but if we are to succeed, we need everyone to exercise extreme caution as they move about.
