Subject: Honor Code Affirmation

Dear Student,

Wesleyan's Honor Code was initiated in 1893 through the efforts of a group of students who worked to gain acceptance for their idea among faculty and administration as well as their fellow students.  Any student wishing to enroll at Wesleyan must agree to abide by the Honor Code as a condition of enrollment.

Violations against the code are violations against the community, the ultimate source of the principles articulated below.  Accordingly, upon witnessing or otherwise becoming aware of an apparent violation, members of the community have an obligation to report the violation to the appropriate faculty member, a member of the Honor Board, or the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Ever since the Honor Code was established, all students have signed Honor Code agreements when first enrolling in the University.  Moving forward, all students will now be expected to reaffirm their commitment to the Honor Code through the e-Portfolio at the beginning of each semester.

Please direct any questions about the Honor Code to my office.

On behalf of the Honor Board,

Dean Mike Whaley

Vice President for Student Affairs
