Subject: Safety Alert - Armed Robbery

Dear Campus Community:

I am writing to alert you to an incident that occurred at about 2:03 AM this morning.  A Wesleyan student was walking on  Church St. in the 100 block when he was robbed at knife point.  This location is described as being across the street from the business " Vines on Church."   The victim had personal items stolen including a backpack, cell phone and wallet, he was not injured.  One suspect has been arrested, another two suspects are being sought at this time.  

According to available information two male suspects exited a vehicle traveling West on Church St and approached the victim.  After displaying a knife and demanding property these males entered the suspect vehicle and continued up the hill on Church St.  The Following descriptions have been provided:

     Suspect #1  A male heavy set  wearing a black tank top believed to have red or blonde hair

     Suspect # 2  Unknown Vehicle operator

     Vehicle Description: The suspect vehicle is an older model black Ford Explorer with side railings

Middletown Police are actively investigating this matter and are being assisted by Wesleyan Public Safety.  If you have any information to share about this incident you may contact MPD at (860) 638-4000 or Public Safety at (860) 685-3333.

Please remember to exercise caution when walking after dark.  Walking in groups and in well lit areas provides greater security.  Always report suspicious persons or activity to Public Safety immediately.  The RIDE campus shuttle is available every evening from 7 PM until 4 AM.  For additional safety information please visit the Public Safety website @wesleyan.edu/publicsafety/.
