Parent giving continues to surpass ever-increasing
goals, each year accounting for a substantial part of the overall giving to
the Wesleyan
Fund.
- In FY 2007, parent giving to the Parents Fund exceeded $1,266,000.
- Restricted giving was more than $826,000.
- Total giving from parents
for FY2007 exceeded $2 million.
- Overall giving from parents to the
recently completed Wesleyan Campaign was close to
$14 million.
- The 2008 Parent Fund goal is $1,650,000. As of May 22, parents have
committed $1,054,360 toward this goal.
Parents of
Wesleyan students have very special reasons to want to increase financial
gifts to the University.
- These gifts directly support your children's education, given that
tuition covers only a portion of the costs of a Wesleyan education.
- Gifts also make financial aid possible, a matter of interest not only
to those students receiving financial aid but also to all Wesleyan
students, whose educational experience is enriched by having a diverse
student body.
- Further, gifts to Wesleyan support the University's current efforts to
improve the educational program and campus life in the short term, changes
that will be experienced by our sons and daughters in their time here.
- Finally, the longer-term campaign to make Wesleyan the recognized
leader among liberal arts colleges will enhance the value of the Wesleyan
degree we all expect to celebrate sooner or later.
