My recommendation on how to approach this text is: Read in three stages. First read the passages I've listed under "Stage One." Do your best to understand them, and look at adjacent passages if you like (sometimes they will help), but don't worry if everything isn't clear yet. Next read the passages I've listed under "Stage Two," including re-reading all of the Stage One passages. "Stage Three," finally, is reading the whole textincluding all of the previous material. I don't expect all of you to complete Stage Three.
