Fire
doors in halls and stairwells must be kept closed at all times

Bicycles
or other obstructions must not be left in halls or
doorways. (They will be removed at the owner's expense.)

In
case of fire, the alarm should be activated and the building
evacuated immediately. Pull the alarm before attempting
to extinguish any fire.

A
fire extinguisher should never be used for any purpose other
than extinguishing a fire. All discharges of fire
extinguishers must be reported to the Public Safety Office
immediately (call 685-3333 or on-campus extension 3333).

Always
close and lock the door to your room when you go to bed.
Rising heat and toxic gases can be fatal to sleeping persons.

Know
the locations of all fire exits, fire doors, and fire
extinguishers. Plan your escape routes!

Extinguish
all cigarettes and matches in ashtrays. Do not smoke in
bed.

Do
not string electrical wires or extension cords under rugs,
over hooks, or in any place where they may generate heat
and/or be subject to wear/damage.

Be
extremely careful with any open flame (matches, lighters,
etc.) as well as with appliances, irons, etc.
