Weekend Essentials for Reunion Classes

Don’t Forget
Bring your camera, scrapbooks, Wesleyan memorabilia, music, and anything else that will make the weekend special. May weather can be unpredictable in New England; we recommend that you bring a light jacket and umbrella. Wesleyan’s athletic facilities and fields will be open throughout Reunion & Commencement Weekend; bring your suit/bathing cap/towel/racket/softball glove/Frisbee, etc., and check your final schedule for facility hours.

Reunion Headquarters
Reunion classes will have space reserved for casual gatherings with classmates and special class exhibits (message boards, collages, artwork, and performances). These alumni lounges will be the best place to find your classmates, take a break from the weekend activities, or congregate between events. Bars will be open at all Reunion headquarters throughout the weekend.

Reunion Class Photos

Group photos of the Classes of 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, and 1979 will be taken from 1:30 - 4 p.m. at the base of Foss Hill (look for signs) on Sunday, May 22.  In case of inclement weather, the photos will be taken in Crowell Concert Hall.

1:30 p.m. - Class of '59

2 p.m. - Class of '74

2:30 p.m. - Class of '79

3 p.m.- Class of '64

3:30 p.m. - Class of '69

WESeniors (Class of 1926 through 1953) and members of the Class of 1939, 1944 and 1949 will have their Class Photo taken during their class reception and dinner on Saturday, May 22.  The Class of 1954 photo will be taken during their reception and dinner on Friday, May 21 in Clark Hall.

Information about class photos will be available after the weekend at www.panfoto.com.

Saturday Night Reunion Class Dinners
The Class Dinner on Saturday night is often the highlight of the weekend. We encourage all alumni with children to utilize Camp Cardinal (Wesleyan’s on-campus childcare program) throughout the evening so they can enjoy dinner, spend time with friends, and take advantage of late-night parties.

Each Reunion class is encouraged to invite members of the faculty or administration to join them for their class reception and dinner. If there is someone you would like to invite, please contact a member of your class committee or Makaela Steinberg ’98, associate director of alumni relations, at 860/685-3836 or mjsteinberg@weselyan.edu.

Cash bars will be available at all luncheons, dinners, and campus parties.

Hotels and Motels
Alumni are strongly encouraged to make reservations at the hotel where their class has blocked rooms—even if they plan to request campus housing. Rooms are limited, and there is a high demand placed on area lodging during the holiday weekend. When calling a hotel, make sure to request the “Wesleyan Class of __ Reunion” block of rooms.

The reservation cutoff date for blocked hotel rooms varies by hotel.

Bed and breakfast accommodations are available in private homes of families of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, the oldest church in Middletown, which has a long history of ties to Wesleyan.  Reservations for Reunion & Commencement will be accepted after April 1, by contacting Chuck or Julie Hurlburt, coordinators, at 860-529-1074 or mcchair1015@cshore.com. Nightly rates are $65 for double occupancy or $50 for single occupancy.  Messages also can be left for Ellen Little, secretary at the First Church of Christ office at 860-345-6657, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Residence Halls
For alumni who prefer to stay on campus, reunion classes will be housed together in the recently renovated Clark Hall (reserved for WESeniors and the 50th Reunion Class of ’54) and the Foss Hill residence halls (reserved for other Reunion classes). Residence hall space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost is $75 per person (not per night) regardless of the number of nights you plan to stay.  An additional $25 refundable key deposit will be required when you obtain your housing assignment and key at Registration (Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, 330 High Street).

What to Bring
Keep in mind that residence hall rooms are basic, with little furniture or creature comforts. There are no private baths; each floor shares a community bath.  A linen packet, including sheets, blanket, pillow, and towel is provided for each bed. The Foss Hill Residence halls are not air-conditioned (Clark Hall is); all beds are twin-sized. You might want to bring: a reading lamp, hangers, a small fan, an alarm clock, a hair dryer, a mirror, an iron, and/or extra blankets, towels or pillows. A limited number of extra blankets will be available at Registration.

Residence Hall Room Assignments
If you wish to be assigned to a room adjacent to a classmate (or classmates), you and all other parties involved must make the request in writing—and in advance—on the attached registration form (or online). We will do our best to fulfill your request. Room assignments will be available when you pick up your welcome packet at Registration.
