This year, our class is hoping to raise $500,000 for Wesleyan, in honor of our reunion, through The Wesleyan Fund. The gift will support the University's highest priorities including financial aid.  This is a very special year for Wesleyan as we are also celebrating our 175th anniversary. 2007 Reunion Weekend Schedule

Registration has begun! You may check the preliminary schedule and register online, or via mail when you receive your Reunion & Commencement Weekend brochure. Class specific events and weekend highlights include:

May 25	Friday Arrivals, WESeminars all day, all–college dinner with tables reserved for the Class of 1987, and the late–night Eclectic party with music by different generations of Wesleyan bands.
May 26	Saturday WESeminars continue all day, traditional Alumni Parade and Annual Assembly, all–college picnic lunch and Festival on Foss Hill, our 20th Reunion reception and dinner, and the all–college sing followed by the tent party on Andrus Field.
May 27	Sunday Brunch, 175th Commencement, and good–byes!

U.S. Counter-Terrorism Here and Abroad

Since September 11, 2001, the United States’ policies and strategies for addressing terrorism here and abroad have changed dramatically. The modern legal structure governing management and emergency response to terrorist events is a complex system of federal, state and local laws, polices and plans. At home, this system must balance the nation’s commitment to federalism and civil liberties with the practical need for clear operational command and control critical to an effective national counter–terrorism strategy. Abroad, the United States faces an increasingly difficult international environment, which only complicates efforts to counter the long term threat posed by violent Islamic extremism. Join our panelists as they consider how the terrorism picture has changed since the 9/11 attacks and the ways policy, law, and strategy must change to address the threat of international and domestic terrorism? Introduction: Martha Crenshaw, professor of government and the Colin and Nancy Campbell Professor of Global Issues and Democratic Thought, a 1995 recipient of the Binswanger Prize for Excellence in Teaching, and editor of the books Terrorism, Legitimacy, and Power, and Terrorism in Context. Presenters: Stephen C. King, ’87, former federal prosecutor and the director of investigations and law enforcement in the White House Office of Homeland Security, and currently an attorney with Hunton & Williams LLP and assistant adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School where he teaches emergency management and response law; Nicholas Rasmussen, ’87, former director for regional affairs in the Office of Combating Terrorism on the staff of the National Security Council (NSC), and currently the assistant for policy planning to the director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and a lecturer for the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, where he teaches U.S. Counterterrorism Policy

A Conversation with Joss Whedon ’87: Things and Stuff

Join this creator of cult figures who will talk about his career, thoughts on education and work, his life at Wesleyan and his future plans, plus anything else the audience wants to ask. Introduction: Jeanine D. Basinger, Corwin-Fuller Professor of Film Studies, curator of the cinema archives, chair of the film studies program, and 1996 recipient of the Binswanger Prize for Excellence in Teaching  Presenter: Joss Whedon ’87, film and television writer who was the creator and executive producer of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly; he is known as an “A–list“ screenwriter and script doctor, and has written/co–written films that include Toy Story, Aien, Resurrection, and Titan A.E.

Presenters: Adam Bird '87, senior vice president and managing partner, Booz Allen Hamilton, works with leading media, entertainment, leisure and consumer companies and is the author of Customer Centricity: New Opportunities for the Media Industry; John Textor ’87, is Managing Principal of Wyndcrest, a Florida–based private holding company focused on technology-related opportunities in entertainment, telecommunications, and the internet, and co–chairman, Digital Domain, Inc., a special effects and animation company based in Venice, California

Reunion Accommodations

Our class will be staying at the Best Western Camelot Inn (1330 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield 860/563–2311). The rates are $79/night. Reserve your room soon, before the hotel fills up!  When you call, please ask for the "Wesleyan Reunion" block in order to get the special rate. A limited number of dorm rooms will also be available if you would prefer to stay on campus. Dorm rooms are $100 per person for the weekend and you can reserve your room when you officially register for Reunion.
