enrolling in
your senior thesis/essay
To enroll in a senior thesis or honors essay tutorial, you must submit a
tutorial enrollment request through the Drop/Add system.
Click on the subject area of your
senior thesis/honors essay tutorial. If you are pursuing honors in
General
Scholarship, select the department/program of your thesis advisor.
Next, click on the Tutorial link.
Click on Request Tutorial next to the appropriate tutorial (409 in the fall and
410 in the spring for theses; 403 in the fall or 404 in the spring for honors
essays). Complete the tutorial form and submit it.
Once your thesis advisor, the
Chair of the department (or both Chairs, if you are pursuing honors in more than
one department), and your faculty advisor have approved the tutorial, you will
be enrolled in the course.
*If you are
pursuing
honors in General Scholarship, you will have the opportunity to
note this on the electronic form when you make your tutorial request.
*If you are
pursuing honors in more than one department, you will enroll in the subject
area of one of the departments that you are writing for. You can enroll in
one subject for 409 and the other for 410 or in only one subject for both
409 & 410. You should discuss this with both major departments before
making a selection. You will be able to indicate
that you are pursuing honors in more than one department on the electronic
tutorial form.
*If you have
multiple thesis advisors, one thesis advisor can serve as the official
advisor on record for the entire year or one thesis advisor can be the
instructor of record for the fall semester and the other thesis advisor can
be the instructor of record for the spring semester. Because this is up to the department, please check with your major
department(s) to see what their preference is prior to enrolling in the
tutorial. In rare cases, a department will request that two
instructors be listed as the official advisors on record for each tutorial.
If that is the case, please contact Beth Labriola for additional
instructions.
Please refer to
the
Tutorial Manual for additional information.
