the honors program at wesleyan
If you are planning on writing a thesis or essay for
honors consideration we advise you to familiarize yourself with this website,
which contains important information and deadlines for honors candidates.
A degree with honors can be earned two ways: (1)
Departmental honors will be awarded to the student who has done outstanding
work in the major field of study and met the standards for honors or high honors
set by the respective department or program; (2) Honors in
General
Scholarship will be awarded to the student who is a University major, or who
is working on an interdisciplinary thesis, or who is working under a department
other than the major. The candidate for honors in general scholarship must
fulfill general education expectations and submit a senior thesis that meets the
standard for honors or high honors set by the Committee on Honors.
The 2009-2010 honors thesis deadline is April 13,
2010. All honors candidates
are required to submit their thesis or essay in PDF format for binding, through their
Student Portfolio.
Most individual departments also require candidates to submit paper copies of
the
thesis/essay for their readers. Questions regarding reader copies should be
directed to your department/program.
The Jellybean Papers outline detailed information
about writing an honors thesis or essay, including formatting instructions. The 2009-2010 version of the Jellybean Papers is
available by clicking on the appropriate link below or you can download a
paper version here.
