FAQS: STUDENTS -
SUMMER REGISTRATION
What do I do if I won't have
internet access to participate during Summer Registration
You should contact the Orientation Office
immediately (860-685-5666) or email (orientation@wesleyan.edu).
They will then explore your options and assist you through the process.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
You should contact the Orientation Office
immediately (860-685-5666) or email (orientation@wesleyan.edu).
There is a dedicated staff of professionals and
interns who can answer your questions. When necessary, they will get you in
touch with the appropriate person in another office.
Does someone have to approve my FYI & non-FYI ranked plans?
NO. You will compile
your rankings and submit them without getting any approval. However, the
Academic Affairs will review your course enrollments and advisor assignment to
determine if those best meet your needs. Please note that this is the ONLY
Registration phase that does not require advisor approval.
Does it matter if I take a Spring FYI, rather than a Fall FYI course?
NO. You are able to take an FYI either
semester.
Can I get enrolled in Additional non-FYI Courses during Summer Registration?
NO. Any listed "Additional Courses" will
NOT become Summer Registration course enrollments. However, they will
automatically appear in your Pre-Registration plan, so you can attempt to gain
entrance at that time.
Should I rank more than 7
Courses?
YES. These "Additional Courses" will
automatically appear in your Pre-Registration plan, which will assist you and
your advisor in designing the most appropriate plan. When you arrive on campus
in August you will have a busy Orientation schedule, so please use Summer
Registration to alleviate August's work.
When will I know my Summer Registration results?
You will be able to access your Summer
Registration results in August before Pre-Registration. You will receive
communication that will alert you to this.
What do I do if I change my mind and no longer want to be in a course I got
during Summer Registration?
During August Pre-Registration and September's
Drop/Add, you will have the ability to alter and change your Summer
Registration course enrollments. However, you are encouraged to meet with
your Faculty Advisor before deleting any course. Please note that during
Pre-Registration these are already confirmed enrollments. So please be
cautious in deleting them. Once you confirm cancelling your enrollment,
there is no way to automatically re-enroll you in that course.
Do I have to take an FYI course?
NO. However, you are strongly encouraged
to take an FYI course. These are small seminar courses that include only
First Year students, so they serve as an important and useful tool in your
transition to college.
Why are some non-FYI classes not available during Summer Registration?
During Summer Registration much of the Wes
curriculum is available to you. However, some courses are not available. For
instance, Permission of Instructor and Required Prerequisites courses
require a face to face with the instructor, which cannot be done in June and
July. Also, instructors have the authority to set up class bins and may not
want to include First Years.
Please note that the available curriculum will
expand during Pre-Registration and drop/add.
How
do I navigate to Summer Registration in my portfolio?
After
logging into EPortfolio off the Wes home page (https://wesep.wesleyan.edu/cgi-perl/session.cgi),
you will open the Summer Registration link in the New Student Programs
bucket.
How
do I add ranked course selections?
Non-FYI courses can only be added through
WesMaps. Please click the "Add to My Courses" button on the respective
course's home page.
How do
I re-order the ranking of a course?
Once a course is in your plan, you are able to
alter the rankings using the pull down menu to the left of each course. You
even have the option to "Unrank" a selection and move it to the Additional
Courses list. Simply click delete if you are no longer interested in a
course.
How many ranked Intro course selections can I add?
Each student is only able
to rank 7 intro courses. However, there is no limit for the number of
"Additional Courses". These additional courses will automatically appear in
your Pre-Registration plan.
How do I change section information, the grading mode or the cross-listing
for one of the Intro courses in my course plan?
During Summer Registration you are unable to
edit a course. However, you will able to change these characteristics during
September's Drop/Add period. Students are encouraged to discuss any changes
with their Faculty Advisor.
Is it possible to Registration for more than two courses during Summer
Registration?
NO. Summer Registration will only
provide you with an FYI and one non-FYI course. Typically students enroll in
4 full credit classes each semester. Students are able to reach this plateau
during Pre-Registration and drop/add periods.
I am a transfer student and would like to participate in Summer Registration.
Why can't I access the Summer Registration system?
Summer
Registration is only for First Year students. New Transfer students will
participate in the August Pre-Registration and September Drop/Add.
