Wood Frame Guidelines

All students living in wood frame houses are expected to abide by the Community Standards. Community standards were developed by students, faculty, staff, and Middletown neighbors in order to help students and neighbors live amongst each other peacefully.

So you can better understand the unique responsibilities and expectations of living in a wood frame house, at least one member of each registered group interested in selecting a wood frame house in the room selection process must attend one of the following four Community Standards Workshops. Each session will be an hour long. Groups that do not have at least one representative that attended a session will be unable to select a wood frame house during room selection. Students must present their Wes ID upon arrival to verify attendance.

Wood Frame First Pick Drawing
Do you want to increase your chances of having the first pick in room selection???

The Office of Residential Life holds a drawing for the first choice of housing for rising senior groups whose entire group attends the Community Standards Workshops.  You do not all need to attend the same workshop as long as everyone has attended one.  Five groups will be chosen in the drawing (one for each housing group size – 2 through 6).  Since there are no 1-person wood frames available in GRS this year, there will not be a drawing for this group size.

To qualify:

  1. Each member of the group must be classified as a rising senior.

  2. Each member of the group must attend one of the four sessions in its entirety.  Doors will be closed at the beginning of each session and late attendees will not be admitted.  Every student must present their valid WES ID at the session.

  3. Rising seniors currently abroad or on leave who are part a of group will be exempt from attending a workshop.  However, if more than half your group is abroad or on leave, your group does not qualify for the drawing. If your entire group is abroad or on leave, your proxy may select a wood frame for the group during room selection, if available.

The drawing will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Noon (12 p.m.). The Office of Residential Life with the assistance of Dean Melendez  will randomly select one group within each room selection group size from all the qualified groups to win the opportunity to select first.  Group representatives need not be present to win.
