Graduate Housing Options

Graduate Student Housing at Wesleyan includes 3 types of housing:  1) One Person Apartments, 2) Group Housing, and 3)  Family Housing.  One Person Apartments have one bedroom and are appropriate for a single graduate student or couple.  In group Housing, three to five graduates students share a house.  Family Housing units have two to three bedrooms and are appropriate for graduate students with children.

Furnishings
To allow for flexibility, some units are furnished and others are not. Students wishing to change their housing to a type that does or does not provide furniture must come in to the Office of Residential Life to request a room change into an assignment that accommodates those particular needs. Physical Plant will not move furniture in or out of a unit.

Rent Payments
Students receiving a full nine-month stipend will have their rent automatically deducted from bimonthly stipend amounts. Students not receiving a stipend will have their rent automatically charged to their student accounts with the University.

Lease
Students must sign a binding lease with the University upon receiving keys for their unit.  Signing the lease indicates an agreement to live in Graduate Housing for the duration of one academic year. All leases end on May 31 each year.  Current, matriculating, graduate residents who wish to remain in Wesleyan University housing past the May 31 date are required to sign and submit a new lease to the Office of Residential Life prior to June 15.
Please note that the lease for new graduate students begins in August, the day they pick up their key and that lease will continue until May 31. The lease assures housing at a particular location only for the length of the contract.  Although it is unusual to require residents to move to a new location within campus housing, the University reserves the right to do so when necessary.  Except in case of unforeseen safety concerns, a minimum of 60 days notice will be given.  Read the Lease here.
