Trash & Recycling

Where can we get recycling bins and trash cans? All you have to do is call in or email in a work order (X3400 or work_order@wesleyan.edu). Word on the street is that recycling bins are on back order, but put in your request and Physical Plant will get you one as soon as possible.

What can we recycle? Curbside recycling in houses is picked up once a week by the City of Middletown depending on house location.  Newspaper must be placed in brown bags or tied with string.  Mixed paper (including paperboard and newspaper) must be tied with string.  Large amounts of corrugated cardboard (flattened and cut to 2 ft. by 3 ft.) must be tied with string.  Pizza boxes cannot be recycled.

Here is the list Middletown Public Works supplied our office with:

Glass bottles
Metal cans
#1 & #2 plastic containers
Drink boxes
Milk cartons
Aluminum foils and pic plates
Mixed paper
Magazines & catalogs
Newspaper
Junk mail
Paperboard (ie cereal boxes)

For more information, visit www.wesleyan.edu/recycling or contact the Middletown Recycling Center at 344-3526.

What about recycling for Vine Street? Sorry! Somehow Vine Street did not make our previous lists, I promise it was not intentional. Recycling for Vine will be picked up on Tuesday mornings. If there were any other streets we neglected to list, you can see your pick up day at http://www.cityofmiddletown.com/City%20Services/City%20Services.htm under “recycling schedule.”
