Leadership Intern Job Description

The Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development (SALD) is looking for a responsible, resourceful, innovative, and dedicated student to enhance the office’s growing Leadership Development Program.  The Leadership Intern will help to support SALD’s mission to foster and encourage leadership skill development among student leaders. In working to achieve this goal the Intern will conduct programs and trainings, facilitate dialogues, create resources, and seek feedback from current students. Collaboration with student organizations and other involved student leaders on campus will be pivotal to the success of the internship. The Intern will also be expected to work on hir own leadership skills throughout the year and to make an effort to serve as a model of balance and wellness for other student leaders they are certain to come in contact with. More specific responsibilities for the position are listed below.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct bi-weekly leadership workshops (i.e. leadership lunch)
  • Be available for consultations with student leaders regarding their groups and organizations
  • Assist in the development of leadership resource guides and programming materials
  • Assist in the planning of the Social Justice Leadership Conference
  • Develop creative marketing ideas for SALD leadership initiatives
  • Assist in the coordination of the Leadership Awards
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned
  • Bring creative ideas and energy to the position.
Qualifications:
  • Sophomore, junior or senior
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student, faculty and staff populations
  • Strong organizational abilities and time management skills
  • Capacity for discretion and confidentiality when working with students and administrators
  • Ability to be creative and innovative
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, and self-motivation
  • Knowledge and experience with current administrative software: (ie:  MS Word, Excel, Internet browsers, etc)
  • Ability to work flexible hours (10 hours per week)
  • Must be able to make a full year commitment
