Albert Fry, the E.B, Nye Professor of Chemistry, is the author of "CBS-QB3 computational examination of substituent effects on the interconversion of 1,3,5-cyclooctatriene and bicyclo[4.2.0]-2,4-octadiene," published in Tetrahedron No. 64 in 2008.

Fred Cohan, professor of biology; his Ph.D. candidate Alexander Koeppel; BA/MA students Elizabeth Perry and Nora Connor; undergraduate researcher Andrew Warner '08; and Danny Krizanc, professor of computer science, are co-authors of "Identifying the Fundamental Units of Bacterial Diversity: A Paradigm Shift to Incorporate Ecology into Bacterial Systematics," published in the Feb. 11-15 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. 

Lisa Dierker, associate professor of psychology, is the co-author of "Risk and protective factors associated with trajectories of depressed mood from adolescence to early adulthood," published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology 76(2), 2008; and "Tobacco, alcohol and marijuana use among first year U.S. college students: A time series analysis," published in Substance Use and Misuse 43(5), 2008.

Janice Naegele, professor of neuroscience and behavior, professor and chair of biology, is the co-author of "Status epilepticus induced neuronal stem cell proliferation is stimulated by sequential waves of NMDA- and IGF-1 receptor-mediated ERK/MAPK signaling," published in Glia 56(7): 791-800, in 2008.

Biology graduate students Joe Carpentino and Nathaniel Hartman; Laura Grabel, professor of biology; and Janice Naegele, professor of neuroscience and behavior, professor and chair of biology, are co-authors of "Region-specific differentiation of ES-derived neural progenitor transplants into the adult mouse hippocampus following seizures," published in the Journal of Neuroscience Research 86 in 2008.

Biology graduate student Chunyu Cai and Laura Grabel, professor of biology, are the co-authors of "Hedgehog serves as a mitogen and survival factor during embryonic stem cell neurogenesis," published in Stem Cells, April 2008.

T. David Westmoreland, associate professor of chemistry, is the author of "Symmetry control of chemical reactions: Applications to the Berry pseudorotation of five-coordinate transition metal complexes," published in Inorganica Chimica Acta 361, 2008.
