AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
URIP SRI MAENY studied dancing at the gamelan conservatory in Surakarta where later she became a faculty member. She also danced and taught at the Institute of Art Education in Jakarta and in a teaching staff at the Indonesian Presidential palace. For a number of years she performed in different cities in Indonesia and was a dancer of the Indonesia's Government Cultural Mission to Hongkong, the Middle East, and Australia. During her residency as Javanese dance instructor at Wesleyan since 1972, she has performed throughout the US, and has taught at Cornell University and Smith College.
