Given the rich textures of the classic jazz environment and the rapidly declining number of individuals who still possess this uniquely American spirit, a film of the life of Giacomo Gates (or a fictionalized film based upon it) would be an exciting and powerful opportunity to pay homage to those who've dedicated their lives to this great art form. It would also inform unfamiliar audiences about this exotic and generally misunderstood lifestyle, and most of all, tell a truly entertaining and colorful story. His experiences as bouncer, blackjack dealer, night manager of 24-hour liquor stores and even occasional bodyguard for some of the more notorious ladies of the night, could in themselves make an interesting film.
