    "A View from Abroad: Writing Hebrew Literature in California" Maya Arad, a writer in Residence at the Taube Center for Jewish Studies at Stanford University shares the joys and challenges of living across physical and linguistic borders, as the only major Hebrew author to reside outside of the state of Israel. She studied in England and the U.S., residing, since 2002, in the Bay Area. One of the leading Israeli authors of her generation, she is now the author of eight books, six of them works of fiction. Many of her books have become best-sellers and she has won wide critical acclaim (Prize for Debut novel; twice shortlisted for the Sapir prize).
