Upward Bound Math & Science

The Upward Bound Math-Science Program is designed to help low-income and first-generation college students recognize and develop their potential, to excel in math and science, pursue post secondary degrees, and ultimately careers in the math and science professions.  Activities, trips, and involvement are designed to help students become more familiar with S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering Math) education.

Saturday Session - Summer Program Orientation

Our next Saturday Session ( Summer 2014 Program Orientation ) will be held on Saturday, June 14th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will be held at PAC 001 for parents and students.

 If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office at 860-685-2970. Attendance is REQUIRED by ALL students and parents. Transportation will be provide if needed.

Summer Program 2014

The summer program is scheduled to run Monday, June 23rd to Friday, July 25th from 8:30am - 3:00pm. During the orientation on June, 14th we will address the college tours/enrichment trips that are scheduled to start on Monday, July 28th.

Senior Dinner

The Class of 2014 Senior Dinner will be held on  June 11th at the Daniel Family Commons at Wesleyan University. RSVP to 860-685-2970, 860-685-3113 or contact your program coordinator, Miguel Peralta.

Trio Day

Trio Day will be held at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center on February 20 & 21st. Trio Day 2014 will consist of college tours,dynamic guest speakers, thought provoking and engaging workshops,and a gigantic college fair.                 

Women in Science

Wesleyan Women in Science aims to both build a sense of community among women of science and their supporters and to foster love for the sciences on and off campus. Date to be announced.

Hartford Stage

UBMS students will be attending the production of "Somewhere" at the Hartford Stage on Friday, April 11th. We will meet for dinner in Middletown prior to the show which starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are limited !! Please call our office @ 860-685-2970) if you would like to attend.

Let's Get Ready SAT prep classes are underway

The Let's Get Ready SAT prep classes started this month!  The classes are held on Wesleyan's campus at the Science Center. The 1st. Diagnostic Exam is Saturday, February 8th from 11:00am to 3pm in room 58. Classes begin Tuesday, February 11 at 5:30pm and end at 8:30pm. The classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays until May 1st. and prepare students for the May 3rd SAT exam. Students from Meriden/New Britain must notify UBMS staff if they need transportation

Bio - Medical Conference - Harvard

The Bio-Medical Conference will be held at the Westin Copely Place in Boston, Massachusetts on April 4th & 5th. The conference will give our students the opportunity to network with advisors/role models from the basic and clinical sciences, medicine,public health, academic administration and biotechnology/pharmaceutical industries,

After-school tutoring available

Tutoring is a great way to reinforce what you are learning in school and is REQUIRED for students with a GPA of 2.5 or below. 

Below is the tutoring schedule*:

Tuesdays - after school to 3:30

Thursdays - after school to 3:30

The Wesleyan tutors are available at Maloney HS in the library and Platt HS at the cafateria.

*If the above times conflict with your schedule, contact the office and we will try our best to arrange a time for you to work with a tutor.
