About the Usdan Center
After over ten years of planning, the Usdan University Center at Wesleyan University opened its doors in 2007. Located in the geographic center of campus, the Usdan Center is a focal point of activity for the campus community. It provides a comfortable gathering and meeting place for students, staff, faculty, alumni and visitors.
Usdan is a central programming space for the campus. In addition to providing many services and programming space, Usdan has become the primary formal and informal meeting space for campus activities and for interaction between all members of the university community.
Additionally, Usdan has quickly become the central place for student activity on campus. At any point during the day students can be seen relaxing and socializing in the lounge, enjoying a meal in the café, or walking through on their way to class. Many of the over 200 student clubs and organizations regularly have meetings, lectures, concerts, dinners, workshops, performances and other events in the building.
Daily you will find Wesleyan faculty and staff scattered throughout the Usdan and Fayerweather facilities whether it be for a weekly department meeting, to teach a class, or to talk with a student over a cup of coffee in the Café. The Daniel Family Commons is also a popular spot, serving as the faculty and staff dining room during the lunch hours on weekdays. The Usdan Center has also hosted numerous faculty and staff retirement celebrations, departmental holiday functions, and has now become a home for campus wide annual events such as Homecoming and Open Houses.
