Graduate Internship in Union Operations and Student Activities & Leadership Development
ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
The Internship is a two year program with applicants working one year in Union Operations and one year in Student Activities. Interns will gain insight into the daily operations, programming, services, and overall management of a college union and student activities program in preparation for a career in the field. Interns will be required to work 20 hours per week some of which include late evening responsibilities.
Graduate Intern for Operations: As a professional staff member in training for the Operations department of the Usdan Center, Graduate Interns will have the opportunity to learn all of the intricacies that are involved with running a campus center. Students are at the core of our operation. The Graduate Intern will be directly responsible for the oversight of student employees as well as their personal growth while attaining transferable skills. The internship will also provide experience in facility management, Event Management Software, training/leadership development, as well as the experience of working at an elite, small, private, liberal, university. Graduate Interns will also be given the opportunity to serve on various campus wide committees, as well as individualized projects in order to diversify their resume and learning experience.
Graduate Intern for Programming: As a professional staff member in training, the Graduate Intern for Programming will primarily be responsible for creating a consistent, alternative late night and intellectual programming series for the Usdan University Center. He/She will have the opportunity to advise the Usdan Center Activities Board and work with various professionals representing other Student Affairs departments. The Graduate Intern will also have the opportunity to work with various cultural organizations to help plan their affinity months as well as the Senior Class on senior events and activities. Graduate Interns will also be given the opportunity to serve on various campus wide committees, as well as individualized projects in order to diversify their resume and learning experience.
What we’re looking for:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and must be in, or be able to matriculate into, a graduate program. Demonstrated successful experience working with students or peers in a supervisory manner or leadership role, previous experience working in a campus center / student union, student activities, or a campus activity board is preferred. Successful candidates should possess a positive attitude, maturity, initiative, and the ability to be flexible while working in a fast paced environment.
