Printing in the Usdan Center

Printing instructions from the Usdan Lounge Kiosks:

  1. Open an Internet Explorer session and click on the Wesleyan Lab Printing Link
  2. You can print a document from Internet Explorer, Word or Acrobat

 

Printing from a MAC:

  1. Go to System Preferences (in the apple icon menu) and click Print & Fax. 
  2. Click the plus sign below the list of printers. 
  3. The Default Protocol should be set to Line Printer Daemon-LPD
  4. For Address, type falcon.wesleyan.edu 
  5. For Queue Name, type in UsdanLobby-RicohBW 
  6. Enter whatever you want to call the printer in the Name field.  Location is optional. 
  7. For the Print Using field, click Select Printer Software and choose Ricoh Aficio 3025 
  8. Click the Add button. 
  9. Go to the following link:
    http://falcon.wesleyan.edu/scripts/webclient.exe
  10. Enter your Wesleyan username and password. Select your document and press print!

 

Printing from an XP:

LPR: To connect to lab printers, you need to use the LPR protocol. This means that, if you do not have any lab printers installed on your computer, you will probably need to install LPR first. If you have already installed a lab printer before and thus have LPR installed, you can skip to step 6.

  1. Go to Control Panel.  In the Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. Double click Other Network File and Print Services.
  4. Make sure Print Services for Unix is checked. Click OK.
  5. Click Next and follow the instructions.
  6. Go to Start > Settings > Printer and Faxes > Add Printer.
  7. Click Next. Select the Local Printer Attached to This Computer and click Next again.
  8. Select Create a New Port and then choose LPR Port.
  9. For the server name, enter falcon.wesleyan.edu. For the printer name, type in UsdanLobby-RicohBW.  Click Next
  10. Choose Ricoh Aticio 3025.  If it doesn't show up click Windows Update and wait for it to load then search for it again. Click Next.
  11. Go to the following link:
    http://falcon.wesleyan.edu/scripts/webclient.exe
  12. Enter your Wesleyan username and password. Select your document and press print!

 

Printing from VISTA or WINDOWS 7:

LPR: To connect to lab printers, you need to use the LPR protocol. This means that, if you do not have any lab printers installed on your computer, you will probably need to install LPR first. If you have already installed a lab printer before and thus have LPR installed, you can skip to step 4.

  1.  Go to the Control Panel in the Start Menu (or hit the Windows key, type "control panel" and hit enter).
  2. Type "turn windows features" in the search bar at the top right of the Control Panel, and then click the Turn Windows features on or off link that shows up. Depending on your User Account Control settings, you will probably have to confirm permission.
  3. Click the plus sign next to Print Services, check LPR Port Monitor, and then click OK. It may take a relatively long time (5+ minutes) for your computer to install the changes.
  4. Go to Control Panel.  In Control Panel, type "printer" in the search bar, and then click the Add a printer link.
  5.  Click Add a local printer.
  6. You will probably need to create a new port for the printer.  Choose Create a new port:, and then for the type of port choose LPR Port from the dropdown menu and hit Next.
  7. For Name or address of server providing lpd:, enter falcon.wesleyan.edu. For the name of the printer, type in UsdanLobby-RicohBW. Hit OK.
  8. Now you must select manufacturer and model of the printer.  Select Ricoh Aficio 3025.  If you can't find it, click Windows Update and wait for it to load.  Hit Next.
  9. For Printer Name type in whatever you want to call this printer.  Hit Next.
  10. It will now install the driver for the printer. This may take a little bit of time. Click Finish
  11. Go to the following link:http://falcon.wesleyan.edu/scripts/webclient.exe
  12. Enter your Wesleyan username and password. Select your document and press print!
