From the American Studies and Latin American Studies Departments to the USLAC Organizers

Organizers:

This is a message for the rally on Friday; some of us can come and some of us can't, so we wanted to send a message to show our support:

"The faculty and staff of American Studies and the Center for the Americas send their best wishes to USLAC, and most particularly to the Wesleyan janitorial staff, unionized and non-unionized. We regret that all of us cannot be with you today. However, we would like to thank the janitorial staff for their work at our Center for the Americas, and express our appreciation for the support you give our teaching by keeping our environment clean and healthy.

"Respect for the dignity of all labor has a strong tradition in American Studies and Latin American Studies programs throughout the hemisphere. As the participation of many of our majors in this organizing effort shows, Wesleyan is part of that tradition. We, the undersigned faculty and staff urge the administration to provide the resources necessary to provide equal pay for equal work, and to cease any impediment to the unionization of workers who so desire it.

"Best wishes y buena suerte."
