The Wesleyan World Music Collection contains over three hundred instruments. Currently 140 have been added to the Virtual Instrument Museum, and more are being added every day. For easy browsing, the site organizes the instruments in several different ways:
For each instrument, we are creating media such as audio recordings, video showing how the instrument is played, and images of the instrument. For many of the instruments, there are QTVR movies, that allow you to virtually spin the instrument, and see it from 360 degrees. To view these movies, as well as the audio and video, you will need the Quicktime plugin. We will be continuing to add media to these pages, so check back often.
The curators are working with Wesleyan faculty and students to write descriptions of each instrument, covering the following topics:
In addition, the instruments are cataloged with the following information (when available)
This information can rendered in a printer friendly format by clicking the button
at the top right corner of the description.
This site is built for the following browsers: Internet Explorer 5 and 6 , Netscape 7, Mozilla 1.5 , Safari 1.0.2, Opera 7.23

All videos are in Quicktime format (.mov).
