WHAT: protest against the American-led Iraqi sanctions policy during Secretary of State Madeline Albrights visit to Wesleyan University
WHO: A broad coalition of statewide peace activists, human rights and anti-war
groups, and students from Wesleyan University, Yale, and Central Connecticut State College
WHERE: Wesleyan University, in front of Crowell Concert Hall
WHEN: Saturday, February 6, from 12:30-2pm
WHY: to oppose the continued military and economic assault on Iraq by the U.S
government.
STATEMENT: For the past 8 ½ years, the Clinton government has conducted a savage campaign against the Iraqi people that has led to the deaths of over 1.5 million Iraqis, most of whom are children under 5 years old. One of the chief architects of this genocidal and relentless campaign is Mrs. Madeleine Albright, the Secretary of State. This shameful policy is also endorsed by local U.S. House Representative Sam Gejdensen. In respect of human life and peaceful methods of resolving differences between countries, we vehemently oppose and disapprove of our governments terrorist policy against the people of Iraq
