WHO: A broad coalition of statewide peace activists, human rights and anti-war

groups, and students from Wesleyan University, Yale, and Central Connecticut State College

WHERE: Wesleyan University, in front of Crowell Concert Hall

WHEN: Saturday, February 6, from 12:30-2pm

WHY: to oppose the continued military and economic assault on Iraq by the U.S

government.

STATEMENT: For the past 8 ½ years, the Clinton government has conducted a savage campaign against the Iraqi people that has led to the deaths of over 1.5 million Iraqis, most of whom are children under 5 years old. One of the chief architects of this genocidal and relentless campaign is Mrs. Madeleine Albright, the Secretary of State. This shameful policy is also endorsed by local U.S. House Representative Sam Gejdensen. In respect of human life and peaceful methods of resolving differences between countries, we vehemently oppose and disapprove of our government’s terrorist policy against the people of Iraq

DEMANDS:

1) We are calling for an immediate end to the U.S. sanctions policy against Iraqi people

    1. We insist on a cessation of the continuous bombing and military aggression against Iraq
    2. Following the above demands, we believe it imperative that the United States begin discussions with the United Nations to create a new, humanitarian, international monitoring policy with Iraq, based on compromise, civility, and compassion.
