TRANSPORTATION
E3, the North End Action Team, Student Services, Ajua Campos, and Catherine Johnson, who works on architecture and urban planning issues, are working together to improve public transportation in Middletown. The lack of frequent, affordable, convenient service to locations like Meriden, New Haven, and Hartford hurts those who can't afford cars, or who can't drive. Those who do drive sacrifice their own quality of life, as they have to wait in traffic jams, risk being injured or killed in an accident (cars are more dangerous than most other forms of transportation) and have to breathe the massive amounts of air pollution caused by cars (approx. 50% of smog). We compiled and clarified the schedules of available public transportation, have written a frequently asked question sheet about local transportation, and will work next semester on fighting for better services and better options.
