Class Description
Hung Ga Five Animal Kung Fu is among the most
popular martial arts of southern China. It emphasizes devastating close
range attacks and rooted stance power. These are developed by a balance
of external and internal strength training. The system uses techniques
of the five animals and the five elements, and balances hard and soft
power to improve health and self-defense skills, as well as mental focus
and clarity.
Generally, class will begin with body conditioning. This will improve
flexibility, stamina, and most of all strength. Conditioning is followed
by an introduction of techniques and controlled practice of them. We
will end class with Chi Gung exercises, which develop internal power and
concentration, and are a very effective way to replenish energy.
Students will also learn fight strategy and technique application.
Students should wear loose, comfortable pants, comfortable sneakers, and
no jewelry. |
Equipment
- Clothing that allows for movement: loose, comfortable pants and
sneakers
- Bringing a bottle of water is recommended
- Do not wear jewelry
