Class Description

Hung Ga Five Animal Kung Fu was developed in southern China. It was designed mostly for fighting in close quarters, utilizing short range and concentrated power to deliver the most effective strikes as quickly as possible. The power comes from a rooted stance and synchronization of body kinetics, which are improved through studying techniques of the five animals and conditioning the body.

Generally, class will begin with a warm up. It will be followed by an introduction of techniques and focused practice of them. We will end class with Chi Gung exercises, which develop internal power and concentration, and are very effective at replenishing energy. Students will also learn fight strategy and technique application. Wear loose, comfortable pants, comfortable sneakers, and no jewelry.

Equipment

  • Clothing that allows for movement: loose, comfortable pants and sneakers
  • Bringing a bottle of water is recommended
  • Do not wear jewelry
