Abstinence: Why Wait?
Janie Stolar and Anaka Hennings, WesWELL Peer Health Advocates
Sometimes you feel like the only one not doing it. And you definitely
feel like the only one who has actively decided not to do it. Sometimes it
feels like sex is everywhere, but some people aren’t having it. Why do
people choose to wait? How does one deal with the pressure to give in? As
well as being the only 100% effective form of birth control, what benefits
does abstinence have on other areas in a person’s life? Discuss the issue
with your peers.

Communication & Sex: How to get what you want
without being a jerk
Nick Benacerraf, WesWELL Peer Health Advocates
Communication is a vital component of all kinds of relationships,
yet it so often gets overlooked. Come examine the reasons why being open and
honest can sometimes seem so daunting in our society, and discuss the role
that communication plays in our everyday romantic relationships, friendships
and sexual encounters. When it comes to sexual encounters, find out how to
make sure that your partner is enjoying what you’re doing, which helps to
avoid any possibility of sexual assault or disease transmission. Talk about
how to facilitate open communication between you and your partner, and learn
from your peers experiences. So beef up your communication skills and spend
less time alone.

Global AIDS Policy & Education

How is the world dealing with the AIDS epidemic? What can be done to
continue the fight? The Wesleyan student organization, AIDS and Sexual
Health Awareness (ASHA) presents a multi-national study on different
strategies and approaches to the AIDS epidemic. Come take a closer look at
the ways in which policy and education have developed over the past few
decades. Also, come hear about the educational program ASHA has developed
here in Connecticut. Check out the ASHA tables to find baked goods and sex
toy coupons!

Drunk Hookups
Lisa Currie, Director of Health Education
What influence does alcohol have on sex? It’s definitely a social
lubricant – and liquid courage for some people. Does it help more than it
hurts -- or vice versa? Join this discussion to share your perspective, hear
from others, and to consider the different aspects of sex under the
influence.
