Getting Involved
WesWELL's professional and student staff, the Peer Health Advocates,
serves as the convening and organizing body for the Sexual Health Expo. We invite Wesleyan student organizations, individual students
and other departments to participate
in the Sexual Health Expo by:
- tabling with educational materials
- presenting a workshop
- fundraising
for relevant causes
- educating on relevant political issues
- developing a poster presentation
WesWELL will publicize the Sexual Health Expo to the campus community and
provide event planning support. Questions on getting involved should be sent
to weswell@wesleyan.edu or call
Lisa Currie, Director of Health Education at 860.685.2466.
Relevant Topics
Topics related to sexual health and responsibility that could be
addressed include, but are not limited to: sexually transmitted diseases,
pregnancy prevention or health issues, reproductive rights, sexual violence
prevention, contraception and/or other
forms of protection, healthy relationships, relevant political issues and causes, and more. Use your imagination to address an issue
relevant to the Wesleyan student body!
Submit a Proposal
We encourage Wesleyan community members to participate in the Sexual
Health Expo in a manner that supports others in expanding their knowledge on
sexual health and responsibility. We encourage creativity in your
educational efforts. Proposals are accepted in the months leading up to the
Sexual Health Expo; a link will be made available on this page to submit
your proposal.
Expectations of Participants
If your proposal is accepted, WesWELL expects that you will make the
commitment to participating in the Sexual Health Expo as you proposed or
that you will notify us if you can not participate (weswell@wesleyan.edu)
. Tables should be staffed for the entire event, workshops
should be conducted as scheduled, and participants should clean up after
themselves to reduce the impact on WesWELL and the Exley Science Center
staffs.
WesWELL will provide one 8' table and two chairs for
tabling, classroom space, and access to existing audio/visual
equipment in classrooms, as indicated on your proposal. Participants are expected to cover their own
needs and costs for tabling or workshop materials, poster presentations, or
any additional audio/visual equipment needed. If you need power at your
table, bring your own extension cord(s); we will attempt to position you
close to an available power outlet.
Questions should be sent to
weswell@wesleyan.edu or call Lisa Currie, Director of Health Education
at 860.685.2466.
