Issue 5, Article 5
Questions are asked by Kim (via email), Panzerschichtung answered collectively. They chose not to answer several questions. I left them for you to see.
1. Tell me your name, height, favorite New Kid, and instrument of mass destruction.
[question ignored]
1.5 Who/what are you biggest influences?
[question ignored]
1.9 When you're not breaking and scratching records, what is playing on these records?
Panzerschichtung is more of a grouping than a group. Any and all personality issues are internal to the grouping rather than external. The grouping is always changing. A group with a known core membership is always in danger of facilitating a sense of self-importance which we want no part of. The grouping is never complete but always has more people in it than necessary.
2. What does Panzerschichtung mean?
Panzerschichtung is a coating which disallows the flow of orgone energy into an individual. It occurs due to both the enclosure of the mind by industrial logic and materialistic WeltMacht, as well as prolonged exposure to radiation from computers/television/etc. and air pollution. The negative effects of Panzerschichtung and the orgone deficiency it causes can be: unfufilling orgasms; sense of imprisonment inside one's mind, one's body, and in society; an inability to communicate with others; and lack of imagination. Prolonged enclosure to Panzerschichtung leads to cancer and fascism.
3. What shows have you played? Describe any or all of the performances briefly...
A partial, though not exhaustive, list of recent activities:
-Loud Sleep/Dirty Ether: The airwaves in the Hartford area are assaulted by the sounds of the airwaves listening to themselves. Caller response is low.
-In a Small Village a Parish Priest Takes the Eucharist Records Near the Fire: After group members sacrificially eat melted vinyl, the PA system is turned up, causing the speakers to almost catch fire. As audience members are delightedly cowering in fear, the lights start blowing out and eventually the power for the entire set dies. Chaos ensues. After an initial silence, the room is filled with furious applause.
-Faster Burger Grease Kill Kill!: On a cold January night, several Panzerschichtung members don large prosthetic breasts and go to "family night" at the local "Hooters" restaurant. A contact microphone is placed on the salad bar and amplified.
-Lockjaw: Only Two Vowels but Still Loads of Fun: Over a layer of pulsations, performers run amok with aluminum bats and sledgehammers on different species of metal objects. In a first ever encore, Panzerschichtung is joined by acoustic singer/songwriter Joey Meyer.
-High Priority School-to-Career Objectives: Wadsworth Falls at midnight - performers draw power from a car, playing live electronics while two high school students are engaging in sex in a nearby field. The car battery runs out and the show ends. The car is abandoned.
-For a Short While, We Were Delivered from God the Eternal to the Freedom of Eternal Bondage: Clowns are bound and gagged with microphones as the rest of the band does a faithful rendition of Soft Cell's "Sex Dwarf."
4. Who gets the chicks after the shows?
We believe that your question has a basis in the idea of the interconnection between "sex" and "conquest." We vehemently do not support this agenda and do not think that "sex," "conquest," and "competition" must be inherently inter-linked. We support an agenda of pleasure beyond thought, rationalization, and power relations. This should not be interpreted as self-importance; as self-importance is itself essentially a power relation.
4.3. Is this question offensive?
[Obviously this was answered already.]
5. Would you agree that experimental music is inaccessible to most people?
We would agree that most people are accessible, but some are not accessible.
5.5. Comment on this statement: Your name is unpronouncable and therefore you are inaccessible from the get-go.
[Question ignored.]
6. What are you looking to try for your next audio/visual extravaganza?
Words entrap and then slowly suffocate. If we tried to describe our dreams with words, we would succeed only in corrupting our dreams.
