In Getting It Right for Children, Dr. Stephen Berman '68 (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2008) shares true stories about his patients and his work as a pediatrician and as an advocate for equitable health care for children at state, national, and international levels.  The book is both a practical and an inspirational guide on how to improve the health and general well-being of children (many of them critically ill) and their families.  The author hopes to encourage medical students, residents, and practicing pediatricians to go beyond their clinical practice and become advocates for improving child health care.

Among the topics covered in the book are pediatric residency, international health in Columbia, children with complex medical conditions, immunization policy, the quest for universal health coverage, and child survival in the developing world.
