Dan Machlin '89 has published a first book-length poetry collection, Dear Body (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2007). In the title sequence, he imagines the dialog between body and mind as a playful literary correspondence. His poems are characterized by an innate optimism, humor, and eloquent lightness as they explore diverse forms and vocabularies on their search for “an opening, an architecture.”

Machlin’s previous works include several chapbooks: 6x7, This Side Facing You, and In Rem, as well as Above Islands, an audio CD collaboration with singer/cellist Serena Jost. His poems and reviews have appeared in The Poetry Project Newsletter, Talisman, Antennae, Crayon, Soft Targets, Boog Literature, and The Brooklyn Rail. He is the founding editor and publisher of Futurepoem books, a former contributing editor of The Transcendental Friend and a former curator of The Segue Series at Bowery Poetry Club in NYC.
