Executive Committee

The Executive Committee (EC) is composed of the President of the WSA and the seven chairs of the other committees. The EC meets once a week to discuss current issues and determine the best course of action, and once a month with the President of the University. The EC is also responsible for setting the agenda for the following week's general WSA meeting.

Committee Membership

Each fall, the WSA internally elects who serves on each committee. 

Following is a description of each committee, along with the names of those members whose terms will continue into the next semester.

 

Community Outreach Committee (COCo)

COCo is composed of six members who are responsible for club/student group recognition, Middletown-Wesleyan relations, and community issues arising within the campus or area community. The chair of COCo co-chairs the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) and two members of COCo serve on PSAC as well.

Educational Policy Committee (EPC)

The WSA EPC is made up of four students,  two of which vote alongside six faculty members on the Wesleyan Educational Policy Committee.  The EPC addresses academic issues, including reviews of programs and departments, academic regulations, as well as general academic procedures.

Finances and Facilities Committee (FiFaC)

Composed of five members, FiFaC is responsible for monitoring and recommending changes to Wesleyan's facilities as well as addressing issues of campus planning, sustainability, student financial aid, and dining.  The FiFaC chair is the co-chair of the Dining Committee, holds the student seat on Major Maintenance, and currently sits on the Molecular and Life Sciences Building Committee.  Among the other committees with FiFaC representation are the newly formed Sustainability Committee and the Endowment Advisory Committee.

Organization and External Affairs (OEAC)

Newly created by the outgoing Assembly, OEAC combines two former committees of the WSA - the Coordinating Committee and the Independent Projects Committee - for a total of seven members.  The committee is responsible for the coordination of the WSA as a whole, including WSA elections and the WSA website.  OEAC also oversees various projects that affect the student body, including work with the Social Committee, Senior Class Officers, the Times Readership Program, the Career Resource Center, University Relations, and Information Technology Services.  The Vice President is the chair of the committee; the Coordinator serves as the vice-chair and runs Assembly meetings.

Student Affairs Committee (SAC)

The SAC is responsible for addressing all issues of student life including, but not limited to dining, residential life, admissions, the alcohol and party policy, and overseeing the Honor Board and Student Judicial Board. Composed of seven members of the WSA, SAC members work with various administrators to help set policy and make important choices to better student life on campus. The chair of SAC co-chairs the Student Life Committee and the Undergraduate Residential Life Committee, which are both made up of students and administrators.  Members of SAC sit on these committees as well.

Student Budget Committee (SBC)

The SBC is in charge of allocating the Student Activities Fee to recognized clubs on campus. The committee of seven meets with clubs seeking money on a weekly basis and internally determines how the money should be distributed.  Elections specifically for the SBC are conducted in both the fall and winter; each member serves a year-long term.
