Areas Under Consideration for Native Plantings
The landscaping subgroup of EON is currently working on a proposal to reduce grassy areas on campus and increase the presence of native plants and flowers.
We hope to convert the following areas from grass, or in some cases
exposed dirt, to some kind of native groundcover.
The following is a comprehensive
list of campus locations we'd like to convert to native species. We
recognize that our list is quite ambitious, so more realisitically, we
are proposing that we convert a "test" area to native species during
the spring/summer of 2009. Ideally, this would be the area around
Hewitt (see pictures below).
Potential Campus Locations
1.) between the Science Center and Church Street
2.) Observatory Circle
3.) CFA area: between art studio buildings (necessary to be resilient, studio products used outside); along the Western edge of the CFA buildings along North Field)
4.) Field near the power plant, corner of high and williams
6.) Area on side of Clark
6.) Area north of Film Building, along Washington Terrace
7.) Area behind the dance studio on Washington Terrace
8.) Upper Westco Courtyard,
east side of WestCo 2 & 3
9.) West Side of Senior Fauver,
Freshman Fauver
10.) Hewitt Courtyard
12.) Butterfields/Summerfields
