Gabriel is a Wesleyan University graduate of the Class of 2000, whose major was Spanish & Latin American Literature. Gabriel is of Ecuadorian descent, and besides his fluency in Spanish, he has also become quite proficient in German, French, and Italian during his time at Wesleyan. He grew up in the Bronx, NY and attended De La Salle Academy and Regis High School.
Gabriel joined the fraternity in the spring of 1998 during his sophomore year and served as the Chapter Vice-President from 1998 through 2000. Gabriel has participated in CALIENTE, Wesleyan's salsa and merengue troupe, for the last two years. He hosted Invisible Men (Men of Color Showcase Performance) in the Spring of 99 as well as the last Expresiones (Latino Talent Show) in the Fall of 99. Gabriel has participated in the main Latino organization/support group, AJUA-CAMPOS, for the past four years and served as Co-Chair in his Senior year. Gabriel has been a Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Fellow his four years at Wesleyan, and he has done extensive research on Ecuadorian society and literature. Gabriel has also served as the Davenport Campus Center Student Manager for the past two years, helping to coordinate campus events and carry out the building's daily functions.
An avid swimmer, fan of the cinema and theater, (amateur) bass player, and toy collector, Gabriel will return to Wesleyan as Assistant to the Dean of Admission in the Fall of 2000.
