The Janina Montero Prize is given annually in honor of the tireless service of Janina Montero, Latina professor and administrator at Wesleyan for over 20 years. The award is presented by the Wesleyan Latino Alumni Council to an outstanding Latino senior, who has demonstrated excellence and involvement in the Latino community, specifically, and in the Wesleyan community at large.

The individuals are chosen for their demontration of personal integrity, leadership, and motivation; a strong interest in and knowledge of his/her background; and having maintained a high level of commitment to Wesleyan's academic and intellectual enterprise.
