WESPAN Plans

Networking
Currently, we're attempting to re-coup an enormous membership. The new membership list is at about 1000. The old one (last serious update=eight years ago) has 1600 in it, but we haven't been able to find email addresses (or current contact information) for a little less than half the people on it. In short, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD about the re-birth of WESPAN and refer people to this site. Data-entry is easiest for us to manage if people use the forms on the SIGNUP page.
Regional Groups
Anyone who's interested in coordinating a regional WesPAN group (SF Bay Area, say, or Boston) should get in touch with us at wespan@wesleyan.edu. We'll send you a database of all the WESPAN members in zipcodes close to yours as soon as we can confirm that you're not a sneaky person who wants to send out junkmail.

Trustee Elections
Wesleyan's Board of Trustees consists of 33 members, nine of whom are elected by the alumni body at large. Three are elected each year for three-year terms. Wesleyan's Nominating Committee typically nominates six candidates for the three positions, but the alumni can also nominate by petition. To do so, 1% of the alumni body (somewhere around 250) have to sign statements in support of the candidacy. WESPAN has succeeded in nominating and electing members of the Board of Trustees in the past, and hopes to do so again in the near future. If you are willing to stand for office (you get free transportation to Middletown four times a year!), know someone who would make a good candidate, or are interested in helping to coordinate such a campaign, email wespan@wesleyan.edu.
Next Year's Reunion Weekend
We'd like to sponsor events during Reunion 2002 that will draw a lot of alumni. We're looking for people from reunion years ('97, '92, '87, '82, '77, '72, '67, etc.) to help organize for it. Email ideas for film screenings, seminars, panels, etc. to wespan@wesleyan.edu
