Men's Crew Gets 3 Medals at New Englands, Ends Year in NICR-3 Rowers are All-NESCAC, Trevor Michelson '13 in World U. Games

Matching the effort of the 2008 Cardinals when all three varsity 8 entries returned from New Englands with a medal, the 2015 edition came though with a gold medal in the third varsity 8 race and bronze medals in both the varsity 8 and the second varsity 8 during the New England Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Sat., May 2. In 2008, both the varsity 8 and third varsity 8 took third while the second varsity eight was runner-up. The varsity 8, represented by rowers Mike Queenan '17, Colin Mattox '17, Ben Record '15, Sam Giagzoglou '16, Chris Steidl '18, Zach Obstfeld '18, Chris Nanda '16, Ethan Currie '15 and cox Emma Siegenberg '18, placed third in its heat, behind BC and Williams, with the margin between the Cardinals and Ephs less than half a second. But the Cardinals got the better of it in the grand final, defeating both Williams and Trinity, two crews that bested Wesleyan during the regular season, while taking third behind Bates and BC. Wesleyan finished one second ahead of the Bantams and two seconds ahead of the Ephs. The Cardinals were 3/4 of a second behind BC for the silver medal. In total, 13 crews competed in the event.
