Wesleyan Field Hockey Recognized by NHFCA for Highest Team GPA in Division III

2011 field hockeyThe National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NHFCA) announced its Division III National Team Academic Awards in March 2012, and Wesleyan was recognized as having the nation's highest team GPA with a 3.52 mark, tied with Vassar for the top spot. Wesleyan was the only NESCAC team in the top five nationally.

In addition, 15 Cardinals were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, the most of any NESCAC team. They are: Sarah Beattie '12, Vanessa Block '15, Amber Bruckner '14, Liz Chabot '12, Chantal Ferguson '13, Lilah Fones '15, Suzanne Gallo '13, Jess Hanway '15, Anna Howard '15, Maureen Malloy '13, Ashley McLaren '13, Taryn Murray '13, Tori Redding '13, Averill Roberto '13 and Ali Singer '12.

Wesleyan finished 8-7 in 2011, including a perfect 4-0 non-conference mark. Over the last three seasons, Wesleyan has gone a combined 14-0 against non-NESCAC opponents and 26-19 overall. Co-captains Morgan McCauley '12 and Liz Chabot '12 were named to the NFHCA New England West all-star second team, with McCauley also receiving second-team all-NESCAC honors for the third straight year.
