With Wesleyan serving as host for the annual Little Three meet Sat., April 21, the Cardinals had five first-place finishes among 19 events. Both LaDarius Drew '15 (left side photo) and Tommie Lark '12 (right side photo) were double winners for Wesleyan as Drew outclassed the field in both the 100m and 200m dash, winning in times of :11.06 and :22.03. Tommie Lark '12 was tops in both the long jump (22-5 1/4) and the triple jump (46-3 1/4). Both his wins came by sizeable margins as the second-place long jump was 16 inches shy of Lark's effort while the margin of victory in the triple jump was nearly four feet. Lark was honored by the NESCAC as its Field Performer of the Week. Drew, as well, had room to spare on his triumphs with winning margins of 0.44 seconds in the 100m and 0.65 seconds in the 200m.
Also coming through with a win for the Cardinals was Skyler Cummins '13 in the 1500m race. His time of 3:59.61 edged the second-place finisher from Williams by 0.83 seconds. Wesleyan also got a solid effort from its 4x100m relay, which featured both Lark and Drew along with Alex Iwamoto '12 and Paulie Lowther '13. Their second-place time of :43.93 was just 0.54 seconds over the Wesleyan record. Also nudging the school mark was pole vaulter Nayan Ghosh '15 as he took second by clearing 13-9. The Wesleyan standard is 13-11 3/4.
Williams ran away with the team title, scoring 157 points. Amherst took second with 113 and Wesleyan was close behind with 101.
Up next for the squad is a trip to Bates for the always exciting and hotly contested NESCAC Championships Sat., April 28.
