New to Handshake?

Create a user account (click here to learn how), connect with your organization and Wesleyan University, and follow these instructions to post your first opportunity. If your employer is new to Handshake, follow these steps to create a company profile during the registration process. Once you complete the registration process, you will become a pending employer on Handshake. By creating an account on Handshake, employers agree to adhere to our recruiting policies.

To be approved on Handshake, employer registration must include:

  • Verifiable organization name, phone number, email, mailing, and website addresses
  • Point of contact information including full name and email address that matches the domain of the organization’s website (generic names, such as “campus recruiter” will not be approved)
  • Clear and completed organization description

Once the Gordon Career Center has approved your employer registration request, you will be able to post and promote opportunities, manage your applicants, request virtual interview schedules, and more.

The Gordon Career Center reviews all employer requests and job and internship postings to ensure that the organization and opportunity are appropriate for current students and/or recent graduates. We do not approve the following employers or postings:

  • Employers whose work or services are in direct conflict with Wesleyan’s mission
  • Third-party recruiters, staffing agencies, or promoters
  • Opportunities that require a fee for participation of placement, including out-of-pocket financial expenses, test-taking, etc.
  • Unspecified opportunities to teach abroad
  • Commission-based positions that do not clearly note the compensation arrangements
  • Personal service-oriented jobs such as babysitting, nannying, dog walking, personal assistant, etc.

The Gordon Career Center reserves the right to decline any employer request and job or internship posting. Please allow up to five business days for your employer registration and/or posting to be reviewed by a member of our team.
